temp around mile 14   :/
monday - 5 easy miles

tuesday - 8 miles (5 on the easy trail) with lots of fartleks

thursday - 5 tempo hilly road miles - so hot but so good!

saturday - 19 miles on a moderate technical trail. lots of roots, hills, turns, and new things to discover. never fell THANK THE LORD!

when i started, the temp was 78 with a real feel of 86; the last half was 89 with the real feel of 97. i did not have any gels and instead used 16 fruit jelly's from trader joes. i realized 5 miles into the run that i was going to lack sodium. thankfully i brought some GU Brew tablets and added them in the water bottles my man carried for me.(he hiked in the area i was running.) around mile 16, i felt like i was going to toss my cookies. i bent over, burped, saw a snake less than a foot from me, and got a huge shot of adrenaline and immediately felt fine! ha ha!

eastern garter snake - exactly like the one i saw

the run was the toughest one yet due to the heat and technical terrain. but i finished. and felt fine overall.

race is less than a month away now... what have i gotten myself into?

oh yea, something i love - a big challenge!

I don't think I could run on trails with those snakes. Eek!

It's been a crazy snakey year so far. Lots of copperheads out our way. Just keep watching where you step - sounds like your training is going strong, even with the snakes!

That long run sounds like good preparation for your 50K. You even survived the snake scare!
