trail raining training

so this week i only ran 3 times (*sunday - in previous post), wednesday, and friday. just a busy time of year!

wednesday - i ran 8 miles on the easy trail. i did find this little trail path in the woods there (it's safe!) that is a half mile. it has a good hill and looks and feels like a real trail. so i did some repeats on it for 3 of the 8 miles.  it was hot and humid but i'm starting to adjust to it now.

friday - i went to the moderate trail with my oldest early in the morning and ran 12 miles. it poured the first 7 miles. i was pretty soaked.

luckily i had a shirt and changed it at the half way point when my son went back to the car since he only ran 6.

he "monitored" me every half mile the second half of the run so that i was not totally alone. our little set up worked great and he was a real trooper to do that for me, happily!

i purchased trail shoes the day prior. the trail was so wet and slippery in some areas and thankfully i never fell. (this was the flat area and the water just pooled in the middle of the trail.)

i saw so many different birds, turtles - big and small, chipmunks galore, squirrels that made so much noise i felt someone was always about to jump out from the trees, and a king snake - one stride away from stepping on his tail!

i ran with my 70oz camelback the first few miles but then my son took it. i can't get it adjusted quite right and it moves so much still.

when i was done with the run, i had a runners high! first time to have run that far on a trail - it was a fun adventure! i compared it to how an indoor cat must feel when it gets outside for an adventure! :)

That's a long trail run! That's great! I had fun running a couple of miles on the trails yesterday. Watch out for the snakes... and turtles!
