catching up

My oldest is an "adult" now  :)
oops-  i forgot to post last weeks running. so i'm updating the past two weeks now. i'm finding it hard to run as much as i would like, but not complaining as my priorities are set! plus any running i get done is that much more rewarding! :)

9/11 tuesday - 7 mile run (half on a trail and half on road). reflected a LOT on the events that occurred 11 years ago. the feelings are still raw and i remember the terrorism so vividly.

9/12 wednesday  - 4 mile hilly tempo run. it was awesome - low humidity - cooler temps! my timing, for what it's worth, showed much improvement! haha!

9/14 friday - 3 easy miles - hoping to get a long run done tomorrow

9/16 sunday  - 10 miles. just couldn't squeeze in a long run yesterday at all with sports and staggered schedules. i got 10 miles done this afternoon and even though it was humid, the sun was hidden by clouds which gave me some relief!

9/18 tuesday - 4 miles at dusk in the neighborhood., lots of people out. it was a beautiful night with a perfect breeze. the crickets chirped beautifully! :)

9/19 wednesday - 6 miles with fun fartleks. it helps that the temps are a little lower (low 80's now).

9/20 thursday - 3 easy miles; legs are feeling really tired and heavy, so i called it a short one today. hope to get a long run done saturday and rest my legs tomorrow.

the "horribel hidden hole"
9/22 saturday - 17 miles. one of the toughest long runs i've had in a long time - or maybe ever! i choked on my water at mile 5 and ended up with a big nasal rinse! then at mile 7, i had to run on the grass alongside a road for a short ways since the sidewalk stopped. i didn't see a hole and all of a sudden i fell to the ground hard. only one truck saw me. :) it hurt, but i got right up and inspected my leg/shin/arm. luckily, i was fine with a light abrasion. i was totally spared of a twisted ankle or something worse. the hole was about ten inches deep. with a thankful heart, i started running again. it got warm fast. i ran against the wind the rest of the way. the ragweed was killing me and i found that spitting now and then helped my throat. well, the wind spat back at me! yuck. :/ and to top off this lovely long run, i had a headache the entire time. but, running is symbolic to life and you just need to run on.

The years go by so fast! 17 is a long way! Glad you didn't hurt yourself even worse in that fall!

Great job, Kate!
So glad you didn't get hurt worse.
Looks like you'll be ready for a fall marathon.

Yikes! Falling is scary enough - but falling in a hole, mercy!

So glad you are okay - you have many more miles to run, my friend!

I love your spirit and your heart, Kate. You are an inspiration to many more than you'll ever know. Remember this.
