4 and 4

so, what's with the picture of me in a Washington Capitals shirt? i LOVE that hockey team. and they are in the playoffs. and my rockin' brother went to Game 2 this past saturday and bought me this shirt. and i just got it today and am on cloud 9! and of course my little hot dog is with me. can you believe her little legs join me on runs every now and then? :)

ran 4 miles monday. i pushed myself hard the first mile (9:20). i thought i was going to die! especially since that first mile on my route is very hilly! the next 3 miles i slowed down to a more comfortable 10 min. pace so i would not burn out! kept praying for and thinking of the boston runners that morning. i watched the live blogging on Runners World which was so much fun!

today i took my 9 year old to the greenway with me. she biked while i ran my first fartlek run. the kids think that is the funniest word. it really is an odd one! i ran 10 min. pace the first mile, 9:30 for mile 2 and 3, and back down to a 10 min. mile. i think that's how i'm supposed to do it. adding these fartlek, tempo, and hill runs are all new to me but i'm hopefully learning as i go along. people, running at that 9:30 pace is h.a.r.d. for me. my heart rate was at 178 to 182 about the whole time. i know eventually i will get conditioned to it, but it's still so hard. i didn't have my ipod with me. in fact, i haven't had it for a few runs lately and it does not bother me to not have it. so i am sort of glad to find out i'm not dependent on tunes to get me through a hard run! i had some dental work done on a back molar today. it was so painful (even with 2 doses of novocaine. as soon as i finished running, the pain from all those shots started. ugh. i am just thankful it didn't start to hurt while running.

listening to the game on the radio via internet is so causing me to make many typing errors! thank you Microsoft for spell check! :)

ok, wow. lots of thoughts here. i'm tired and half brain-dead, lol. but here goes:
-love the new pic (and the quote)is that pic yours? from your CA trips? you know how a good bridge really turns me on. ;)
-you should be proud of your 9:20 mile. what what! 10 is not EVEN 'comfortable' for me. more like 11 ... and a half. lol. i'm with your kids on the weird word for the training

-your capitals shirt rocks. i love your team spirit - always so fun.

Good job on pushing yourself! Sorry about the dental pain, though! And you know that I like your new blog pic!
