if money grew on tress, i'd run so many races...

well, i ran 3 miles tonight with my son. saw another dead cardinal, about 100 feet from the other one. :( it looked like it was hit by a car and then just fell on the sidewalk. so so pretty (and sad) just laying there so still. so weird seeing two dead ones within a few days.

well, i finally accepted what i've known all along... that i should not run a trail half. :( as much as i'd absolutely love to, i really, really, REALLY want to run a marathon this fall. and in order for me to do that, i have to $ave money. i figure the money i would have spent on a half marathon now could be used to secure a place in a full marathon this fall. and, i really am going to need a new pair of shoes quite soon - an easy $100+ investment for me. and i'd rather buy my main running shoes now instead of trail shoes. we are in a season of being very frugal and practical with our money, and believe me, it's been a huge h.a.r.d adjustment for me but one that i must admit is re-molding me!

i learned a lot from 14 weeks of training last fall, rehabilitating a bad ITB injury, and a little more of who i am, what i can do, and what running means to me. that was the good part! the bad part is this little part of me that still fears that i can't get it done... has anyone else ever felt that way? so if i set my sights on something now, that gives me about 8 bonus weeks before an 18 week training schedule would begin. and i already have a lot of the necessities for training. i just need to $ave for new shoes, gels, a new bra that won't cut my back (ohmygoodness, i have the worst raw spot from saturday's run on my back from the stupid hook), and definitely a new pair of shorts. hopefully, this will be the year i can bust out a full.

so i'll keep hoping, praying, aiming, and pursuing that goal... and $ave $ave $ave!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and entering my giveaway! Maybe you'll get lucky and win and then you don't need to budget for a new bra!

I still had that fear of being able to do it, even after I had done it 2 times before.

I'm so excited for you, Kate! Fall is a great time to run a full! Can't wait to hear more about it.

Fall marathons are my favorite! I know you can do it! Once you sign up you're committed and you'll follow your training plan all the way to the finish line! Can't wait to follow your progress!!!!

Good reasons to skip the 1/2. Another one - your shin pain. Maybe you can rest your shin a bit now.

I buy bras at Target - $17, maybe.

Yeah, I know about chafing! I body-glide, but then I'll chafe in some new place so - you never know!
