running "away"

sat 6/11 - 5 hilly humid miles in nc; my brother biking next to me - good times :)
mon 6/13 - 5 miles on a treadmill in gettysburg, pa; stared at the pool for 45 minutes - ugh!
tues 6/14 - 5 miles on a treadmill in niagra falls, ny; could see my man and kiddos swim in the indoor pool
wed 6/15 - 5 miles on a treadmill in foxboro, ma; watched the bruins win the stanley cup (boston was over the top the next day - so much fun!)
sun 6/19 - 8 miles on the streets of cape cod, ma; beautiful breeze and perfect temp
tues 6/21- 5 early miles on a treadmill in tarrytown, ny; actually watched some news for the first time in forever (since i mostly read it)
wed 6/22 - 7 miles on a gravel country road in va; a few with my sister in law - loved that!
thurs 6/23 - 3 miles (same place)
fri 6/24 - 13 miles (same place; the first few w/my sister in law. i could totally feel my feet slip on the gravel during that long run!) it was hot but the breeze was incredible and the humidity wasn't bad
mon 6/27 - 6 miles (same place - got a purple toenail from the previous run)
one of the places we visited- plimouth plantation- LOVED it!
tues - 4 miles (same place); fast tempo run!

away for 20 days (and 10 different beds!) for a total of 66 miles. not bad. i gained 1 lb while away and before we left i lost 9 lbs. we did a lot of walking so i considered that as cross training. ;)
i rested from running wed, thurs and fri this week since i could feel a tight spot way deep in my glueteus maximus which  seems to be fine now.

today i ran 12 miles. i need to re-adjust to the heat. being indoors on a treadmill is no fun but at times, it sure beats the heat. up north it was pretty cool until we got to virginia. and today my first run back in hot and humid georgia was hard! i have two blisters and i bet another purple toenail will show up. for some reason my shoes killed my feet today. the joys of running! :)

Sounds like an awesome vacation! 20 days is a long time to be gone and only gain 1 pound. It can be so hard to eat healthy on long trips.

My feet swell in the heat - may be why your shoes feel different. Sounds like a great vacation with lots of traveling!
