tuesday - 7 warm miles. on my way back into the n'hood, i was about 8 feet from a small tree by a pond. i saw a red tailed hawk fly up from the water and swoop down on the tree. three mockingbirds started pecking at him. he looked around, then at me, and then suddenly flew off - with the mockingbirds nest! i'm glad birds don't have emotions. those mockingbirds all looked bewildered! :/
wednesday - 5 tempo miles. had to hurry since i had limited time and we were headed to the mountains for a couple days. nothing like a shortage of time to get a good tempo run done!
thursday - i tried to run on the trails we hiked but wow, they were so incredibly rooty and rocky that i walked the for the most part. this was a great cross training day!!
monday - (4/16) well, it's been hard to get a long run in this weekend. just busy with sports and my kiddos schedules always come first. i wouldn't miss a game for a run! that's just me. and sunday afternoon was too warm to run. so i ran 13 miles today on the greenway. it was humid and warm (near 70) but cloudy with a small breeze. the last 4 miles it started to rain steadily. my 11yo biked along with me and were soaked by the end! one thing i noticed again with long runs on a flat route is how sore i get. my legs were hurting when i was done - they felt tired and sore just as they did during the albany marathon which was very flat. all afternoon i felt stiff and sore. i rarely feel this way after a hilly run.
spring and color are everywhere! i just love this season and what it does for my soul! on another note... i need a race on the calendar so bad!! wish i could find one for late spring early summer but anything over a 10k is so hard to find.

i've been having my 11 yr old bike by me as well. such a fun way to spend time together!
hope you had a great get-a-way w/your family!
I know what you mean about trying to find a race! It's so hard to find longer races after the Spring. Sadly that's when my mileage is going to be getting up there (insert sweat, heat and humidity!!!) My fall race calendar is super full with as many as two races a month (snort) making up for lost time I guess. Plus with my favorite distance being the 1/2 I can plug in more that way! Be careful on those trails would not be good to twist an ankle!!!
