past 2 weeks

got sidetracked as i was preparing school stuff for my kids!

was sore a couple days after the trail marathon. decided to rest 4 full days before running. i was tired and it was just plain old hot out!

thursday - a HOT and sweaty 5 miles. the humidity is just not gonna give!

friday - a somewhat not as hot 5 miles - the clouds were out and spared me a little!

that's it - just 10 miles week after trail marathon.

last week:

monday5 miles on the trail

tuesday - 4 tempo miles. nothing like being short on time to make you run faster!

thursday - 5 miles in the heat

saturday - ran an evening half marathon with a friend. she calls herself a lead weight, i call her a TON OF FUN!! i love running with a friend and i don't care how fast or slow it goes. it's just FUN and something i rarely get to do. it was not about a pr, but all about the fellowship! it was hot and humid at the start; then thankfully it got cloudy and sprinkled about half way through. then at mile 7 they ran out of water!!! 2 gels, and just a little water the first 6 miles is what got me through. i finally know what it's like to cramp in my legs from not enough hydration.

i guess since i run in the heat and my body is adjusted to running with little energy (running on an empty stomach on morning runs) and being that i was somewhat hydrated, it wasn't as bad for me. but... a lot of people slowed way down and were really hurting. that was a tough one for the first time half marathoners and i felt really bad for them knowing how hard it was and how disappointed they were. nonetheless, it was fun and i chaffed like a queen on my arms from wearing a new shirt!

I think your mile total for this year is going to blow your other ones out of the water!

I think you were smart to take some time off after your trail run.

They ran out of water at the race about halfway through?! Oh, no! Glad you survived and had fun, too!

yes, tina, it was CRAZY!!! thankfully i'm heat acclimated and can handle it physically for the most part. but it was REALLY rough on a lot of runners. it was a new experience to get cramps in my hamstring - never had leg cramps before. but we had fun. in the dark! that was crazy too since it was reallllly dark the last 5 miles!
