it was harder than my first 16 miler i ran last fall. i ran 4 miles last night and felt great. how strikingly different i feel now though. ugh. i decided to run my 10 miler later in the day since the trail at the greenway would be mostly shaded. and it was just that. but it was still hot and so humid. i brought my soft washcloth along to wipe my face and arms and it was just soaked towards the end. as was my shirt, shorts, bra, socks, hat and head. it was indeed a good cleansing sweat. but that part which i truly enjoy was overshadowed by how hard it was after the first 5 miles. the last 5 miles were so hard. my legs got stiff. my quads were tight and a little sore. i had 20oz of water and wished i had more. i ate 2 gu's at mile 4 and 8. but they didn't do much as far as i could tell. my son was biking along with me. at least that helped. i walked 30 sec. after each mile for the first 5 miles. the second 5 miles i had to walk 30 sec. after each half mile. i now know the feeling people get when they want to quit. i'm not a quitter but it sure sounds good right now! i have bra burn, shirt burn, shorts burn. ugh. my legs are tired and sore. and summer hasn't officially started! i know where i'll be this week. in the gym, on the dreadmill.
the temp now is 85 with a feel of 91, humidity is 70% at 9pm. man, i was dumb to think it would be cooler. i'm totally feeling it now.

Some runs are like that - just plain hard! Maybe the treadmill will give you a good break from the heat.
Heat and humidity do it every time! When I lived in Arkansas, we always ran at 5 or 5:30 AM and it did help some, but still humid out there. Just hydrate like a Queen! Good for you to stick it out on that tough day!
