if i waited 2 days...

i had to move my long run up a couple days since we have a busy weekend ahead.  today i hit the greenway for a 12 mile run with my 9 year old daughter.  she rode along and was my support. :) we started out at 9:15 and ended about 11:45.  yes, it took me that long. i paced myself by my heart rate monitor and that's what made my run so successful in this heat and humidity.  the first 3 miles were in shade, the next 6 were in the sun, and the last 3 were in partial shade. it felt like it was 90 the whole time. but i made it.  finished with no pain - a tired lower back but no pain.  thank you God!  i hear that on saturday it's supposed to be 88.  grrrr.  that's like a cold front!

i took my camera in hopes of seeing the cranes again.  the creek where they were is about dry. it's a little branch from the main creek and it's not rained much the past few weeks so it's drying up.  the cows hang out in the pasture right next to this (which is in the upper right hand corner of the picture).  i told them water would be arriving in two days and to hang in there. :)

my daughter noticed this spider.  i didn't want to put my foot next to it (for size comparison) for fear it would jump on me.  i really don't like spiders.  it was a little bigger than a credit card.  yuck.

all along the trail are these signs.  i find them awkward.   why does the park service feel the need to let us know where the boardwalk begins and ends!

i'm sorry if this picture is upsetting.  i thought it was interesting - and a little sad the frog didn't make it.  i guess the frog was a little dehydrated.

I've got to say right up front - scrolling down to the frog picture was not good. I'm eating lunch!!! Anyway, 6 in the sun and finishing so late in the day would mean bad news for me. Glad you survived! Although the fact that you were talking to the cows worries me a little!
