| my man's bday pie - lemon meringue. no more b'days for 6 mos! |
took sunday off to rest and monday since i was busy.as.a.bee. today, i ran 6 miles in some absolutely gorgeous weather. during the first mile or so, my legs felt like pure lead. took awhile to really warm up. i repeated the rest of the run with running fast for half a mile, and walking for 30 seconds. guess i could call it a fartlek run!
a close call...during the run, a car rounded a corner fast and the tire hit the curb which was not even two stride lengths away from me. scary!!! she was looking down but reacted so quickly and was able to keep the car from jumping the curb or going out of control. reminder how some things can happen in a split second and to always be aware of everything around me - nature and cars!

So glad you are ok, Kate. Yikes!!
Yikes! is right! This for sure is my biggest concern out there running on the roads. I have heard of so many runners getting hit it really pays to be constantly aware. I often run with just 1 earphone in bc of that.
Oh that lemon meringue pie! yummmmm!!!! next to Keylime my second fav!
i can't believe sometimes how many people i see looking down or texting or READING something when i'm running along the main roads!!! grrrr!!!
You are so right about how important it is to stay vigilant out there running the roads. I thank God for all of the miles He has kept me safe out there! Really glad you were okay. We can never be too careful! I got hit by someone's side view mirror a little over a year ago and thankfully was not injured, however, it was a HUGE reminder of how easily something like that can happen!
You wouldn't believe how fast drivers turn the corners in Scotland - scary! That's my husband's favorite pie. I never make the meringue quite high enough for him, though!
