a kitten & an awesome tempo run!

my birthday present - "Miles" or "Buddy" - still deciding!
wednesday - i didn't run since this last saturday. i just knew i needed to take a few days break. didn't want to but i did. didn't do any exercise. just took a break. that 15miler was painful and i just felt like i was on the edge of something going wrong if i didn't rest. even during today's 6 mile run i felt rusty the first few miles. i'm just flat out tired. could be the gray days we've had. or getting broken sleep lately. after all, i did get a new kitty for my birthday (total surprise!) and i've been woken up by it since sunday night. who knows... i do know this, i'm going to bed early tonight!

thursday - 8 miles with my parents dog. i think i ran him too far or too hard since he got sick at mile 7. so i took it easy the last mile home. poor dog. i don't know any better. he came on a few runs with me last week but 6 miles was the farthest he's gone.

friday - 6 tempo miles. had not pushed myself that hard in awhile. it felt so good! i was beet red and so sweaty when done that i felt like it was 90 degrees outside! i ran almost a full mile at around an 8 min mile pace which for 'lil 'ol me is challenging!

saturday -10 miles.  i woke up at 6am and was running by 6:30. had to beat the rain and storms that were headed our way all day. i dusted off my headlamp and used it the first 4 miles. i stayed in the neighborhood since it was still dark and repeated a mile route that kept me really close to home. at mile7, it started to pour. and at mile 9, i booked it home since it started to thunder! i made it home safely and the storms slid to the east of us for that part of the morning.

One of my dogs became sick after a run once, too - it was a hot day, but he hadn't shown any signs of feeling badly. With the dog we have now, she slows down in the later miles when it's warm so I don't run as far with her when it's hot. It's hard to know how they're feeling sometimes, though. Hope you get some blue skies soon!

tina, it was so strange since it was a cool day. maybe he was a little dehydrated? maybe dogs dehydrate faster than us? he did it again a few days later on a 4 mile run so no more running for him with me! he's back at his home now anyway!!

TPG - I KNOW RIGHT!! i could easily be that crazy cat/dog lady! all creatures great and small!!! (except snakes!)
